What Makes 45 Million Voices Different?
We are not doctors or nurses. We are not politicians or clinic owners.
We are two women who have heard the voices that are lost in the noise of political debates and propaganda.
After a combined total of nearly twenty years working in abortion counseling and care, Kate and I realized there was a large void that desperately needed to be filled. Protesters had their signs and shouting matches, religious leaders had their pulpits and propaganda, and right wing radio personalities had their airwaves. But nowhere was there a place for ordinary women to share their stories without judgment, without politics, and without shame. Now there finally is.
As abortion care workers, we have held the hands of crying women, listened to angry teenagers, and shared a simple understanding with women who know without doubt abortion is the best, most moral decision they can make right now. We have held in our arms some of the strongest, most independent women you will ever meet who have struggled with the biggest decisions of their lives. We have cried, hurt, laughed, hugged and cared for and with real women.
We may not have a pulpit, a billboard, a television ad or a radio talk show but we do have something much more powerful. We have 45 million voices.
